කිරිමැටියාන මහජන පුස්තකාලයීය මාර්ගගත සුචිය වෙත සාදරයෙන් පිළිගනිමු

1972 වර්ෂයේ දී කිරිමැටියාන ගම් කාර්ය සභාව විසින් ප්‍රදේශයේ උගතුන් හා බුද්ධිමතුන් බිහි කිරිමේ අරමුණ පෙරදැරිව තම කාර්යාලයේ කුඩා කොටසක පුස්තකාල සේවාව ආරම්භ කර ඇත.එහි පුරෝගාමියා වශයෙන් එවක ගම් කාර්ය සභාවේ සභාපති වූ එම්.එම්.මහීපාල රත්නසේකර මහතා කටයුතු කර තිබේ. ක්‍රමයෙන් පුස්තකාලයේ කටයුතු වර්ධනය වීමත් සමඟ පුස්තකාලයේ පාඨක සමාජයේ ක්‍රියාකාරීත්වය මත වත්මන් ස්ථානයේ ගොඬනැගිල්ල තනා ජනතාවගේ සේවයට විවෘත කරන ලදී.

මෙම පුස්තකාලය ග්‍රන්ථ 22466, සඟරා 06, පුවත්පත් 33 කින් යුතු එකතුවක් ඔස්සේ ජනතාවට අවශ්‍ය තොරතුරු ලබාදීම සඳහා අවස්ථාව සලසා දී ඇති අතර ආරම්භයේ දී බැහැර දීම, විමර්ශන සහ පුවත්පත් අංශ ලෙස ක්‍රියාත්මකව ක්‍රමයෙන් විකාශය වී එම අංශ සඳහා ළමා අංශය හා තොරතුරු තාක්ෂණය යන අංශ ද එක්ව ලෙස ත්‍රෛභාෂා වලින් තොරතුරු ලබා දීමට තරම් සේවාව පුළුල් කර ඇත. තව ද 1998 වර්ෂයේ දී පුස්තකාලයේ මව් ආයතනය වන වෙන්නප්පුව ප්‍රාදේශීය සභාව, ප්‍රදේශයේ ගමනාගමනය දුෂ්කර දුර බැහැර ප්‍රදේශවල ජනතාවට තොරතුරු ලබා දීමේ අභිලාෂයෙන් පුස්තකාලය සඳහා රථයක් සහ පොත්පත් ලබා දී ජංගම පුස්තකාල සේවය ආරම්භ කර ව්‍යාප්ති සේවාව වඩාත් පුළුල් කර ඇත.

2007 වර්ෂයේ සිට වයඹ පළාත් පාලන දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව වාර්ෂිකව සංවිධානය කරනු ලබන හොඳම පුස්තකාලය තේරීමේ තරඟයෙන් 2008,2009 වර්ෂයන් හීදී දෙවන, තෙවන හා සිව්වන ස්ථාන ලබා පළාතේ හොඳම පුස්තකාල 10 අතර රැඳෙන්නට ලැබුණ අතර 2015 වර්ෂයේ දී III වන ශ්‍රේණියේ තරඟයෙන් ප්‍රථම ස්ථානය හිමි කර ගන්නට සමත් විය.

2017 ජූලි වන විට II වන ශ්‍රේණියට පත් වූ කිරිමැටියාන මහජන පුස්තකාලය 2018 වර්ෂයේ I,II ශ්‍රේණි අතර පවත්වන ලද පුස්තකාල තරඟයෙන් ප්‍රථම ස්ථානයට පත් වූයේ කාර්ය මණ්ඩලයේ හා ප්‍රාදේශීය සභාවේ පූර්ණ දායකත්වය ද මතය.

2018 වර්ෂයේ, ශ්‍රී ලංකා තොරතුරු හා සන්නිවේදන තාක්ෂණ නියෝජිතායතනය (ICTA) හා ශ්‍රී ලංකා ජාතික පුස්තකාල හා ප්‍රලේඛන සේවා මණ්ඩලය හා එක්ව “ඩිජිටල් පුස්තකාල ව්‍යාපෘතිය” හරහා යාවත්කාලීන සංස්කරණ මුහුණුවරකින් යුත් පූර්ණ පුස්තකාල ස්වයංක්‍රීයකරණ පද්ධතියකින් ද නවීන තාක්ෂණික මෙවලම් හා සේවාවන්ගෙන් ද සපිරි නව තාක්ෂණික අත්දැකිමක් සඳහා දොරටු විවර කර ඇත. තවද පුස්තකාලයට තාක්ෂණය හිමි වීමත් සමඟ කුඩා දරුවන් සඳහා කතන්දර පැය, භාෂා පැය හා සම්මන්ත්‍රණ, දේශන, වැඩමුළු හා දරුවන් සඳහා නවතම තාක්ෂණික මෙවලම් භාවිතයෙන් ගොඩනැගීමේ හැකියාව ආකල්පමය වශයෙන් වර්ධනය වන ස්ථාන සකස් කිරීමට ද ඉදිරි සැලසුම් සකස් කර ඇත.

In 1972, M. M. Maheepala Rathnasekara, the former chairman of Kirimatiyana Village community Sabha has started this library at his office. Then with the increase of library patrons and visitors the library has developed to much bigger and opened to public. Initially library services were only offered through lending, reference and newspaper sections. Above sections consists of 22466 books, 06 magazines and 33 newspapers accordingly. Then the services have been extended to Children’s section and Information Technology unit thus evolving this library as the knowledge hub of the area, providing information to knowledge seekers in all three languages. In 1998, with the support of Wennappuwa Pradeshiya Sabha, this library introduced the mobile library service in order to provide library services to the people in remote areas in the region.

This library has awarded as the best library in 2007 for annual best library award presented by the provincial council of North Western province and won the second and third places in 2008 and 2009 for the same respectively. Our library is in top ten of best libraries in the province and in 2015 has won the first place for third grade competition.

In 2017, July Kirimetiyana public library has become a second grade public library. In 2018, the library had won the first place from the competition among grade I and grade II libraries with the guidance and support of the library staff and Pradheshiya Sabha.

In 2018, The Digital Libraries Project was implemented at this public library by the Information Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) in collaboration with National Library and Documentation Services Board by providing an advanced and updated library automation system and introduced modern infrastructure which is in demand to improve the quality and efficiency of the library system in the country. Having the opportunity to use the technology for Kids section the library has become a place to attract more children where the library staff are conducting knowledge and skill development programmes to help ensure improvement of creativity and attitudes.
